Another great spot for cherry blossom viewing is the Aoyama Cemetery. From Ueno Park, you can take a 30 minutes walk to the Aoyama Cemetery. Along the way, you’ll be able to explore Meiji Jingu Gaien. This is where the Olympic Stadium will be constructed for the Olympics 2020.
At the Aoyama Cemetery, you can take a walk along the cemetery and you’ll be in a path surrounded by cherry blossoms. It’s a beautiful walk.
How to get there:
- Option 1: From Ueno park, walk to Ueno Station ( 6 mins, take crosswalk go upstairs)
- Take green line, JR, Yamanote Line towards For Tokyo
- Get off at Akihabara station, take yellow line towards Mitaka (12 mins 6 stops, platform 5)
- Get off at Shinanomachi Station
- Walk to Aoyama Cemetery
- Option 2: From Ueno park, walk to Yushima Station (dark green line © , 14 mins)
- Take Chiyoda line towards Yoyogiuehara (15 mins, 8 stops)
- Get off at Nogizaka Station
- Walk 8 mins (take path to station ticket gate, go down the hallway, up the hallway stairs, take 2 crosswalks, cross the road and turn right
- Arrive at Aoyama Cemetery
