Dinner was a much anticipated spot called the Ox Restaurant. It was a dark, rainy night, so it felt pretty quiet driving into the parking lot. Once we entered the restaurant, though, we found out there was a 2 hour wait. Conveniently, there was a bar next door called the Whey Bar (it was their bar). Everyone at the Whey Bar were eating appetizers and drinking wine/cocktails while waiting for their table. We were only planning on taking a seat to grab some wine, but when I saw their oyster selection, I was pretty sold. We ordered shigoku, barron point, and another type that I cannot recall. They were simply fresh and fresh!. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the freshness of the oysters. Maybe the cold rain added to the taste, but they were so refreshing and beautiful. We also tried the salmon gravlax which I do not recommend. It was not very distinctive and the portion was not impressive for the price.
When we finally got seated at Ox, the server quickly brought us bread and water to start. The menu was introduced in detail. We ordered clam chowder with smoked bone marrow for appetizer, beef ribeye and maple brined pork loin chop for entrees.
Everything was tasty, however, the one dish that I could not forget was the spinach, foie gras with wild mushrooms. As a side dish, it was rich in defined fatty flavor with an ending of mushroom taste.
I do recommend this place to any foodies who fancy creative dining.
